Welcome to Our School
Farncombe Church of England Infant and Nursery School is an historic place. A school has existed on our site since the 1890s, with the current building dating from 1905 when it was a boys’ school. Now our pupils enjoy the best of both worlds, with a sense of history and community provided by our position at the centre of Farncombe Village, along with modern facilities and a curriculum to meet the demands of the 21st Century.
Our school consists of a five classes, catering for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We have an attractive site with a forest schools area and playground which contains wooden climbing equipment. Unusually for such a small school we also have a separate canteen in which children can enjoy a school dinner cooked daily on site using fresh ingredients.
Our vision drives all our work at school: ‘Let all you do be done in love’ is our guiding vision for our speech, deeds and thoughts. This enables us to create a nurturing and inspiring environment in which everyone can have life in all its fullness.’
We aim to inspire children by providing exciting and purposeful learning opportunities. All members of staff are constantly developing themselves as learners by accessing training and professional development as we strive to provide the best education possible.
We ask children to use and develop their imaginations and in turn, we as staff provide imaginative challenges and activities.
Lastly, but importantly, we aim to treat all children as individuals. We follow the National Curriculum and have high expectations for all, but do not provide a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education. Instead, we work to meet the individual needs of each unique child.
I am thrilled to be leading such a friendly and successful school. I graduated from Warwick University in 1997 and have worked in Surrey schools ever since, being headteacher at Farncombe since 2006. Like all the staff at Farncombe I have been involved in professional development, gaining a Masters degree in Education Management in 2001, completing the qualification for headship (NPQH) in 2005 and attaining NLP Practitioner status in 2021. In 2011 I became a parent myself and very much appreciate the joys and challenges of family life!
The staff and I welcome all visitors into school. If you are searching for your child’s first school you can call our office on 10483 424933 and arrange for a school tour. The decision as to which school your child should attend is one of the most important you can make. As a parent you need to feel confident and assured that you are bringing your child to an environment which is both welcoming and challenging. Our website is only one ‘window’ to our school. A visit is more informative as it enables you to see and sense the happy and positive atmosphere that our school has to offer.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
