Moving on to your child’s next school
‘For I know the plans I have for you.. plans to give you hope and a future.’ Jeremiah 29:11
Farncombe C of E Infant School educates children aged 4 – 7. After Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, children move on to junior schools in the September following their seventh birthday. Our main links are with Godalming Junior School and Tillingbourne, with the majority of our ‘leavers’ transferring to these local schools.

However, a number of Year 2 pupils move into the independent sector for Year 3 and beyond. Our Year 2 teachers are skilled in preparing children for the demands of Year 3 in preparatory schools, particularly as our mission statement focuses on ‘Individuality’ and meeting the needs of every, unique child. In recent years, children have moved sucessfully from Farncombe School to St Hilary’s, Aldro, Longacre, St Edmunds, Amesbury, St Catherine’s (girls) and Lanesborough (boys). Farncombe pupils are sometimes awarded Year 3 scholarships in recognition of their potential.
Each Summer Term, a good deal of time is spent on transition, with lessons and assemblies on change and ways to prepare for new challenges. There is a questionnaire for Year 2 children, analysed by governors. A lively and moving leavers’ service marks the end of each child’s time here. All Year 2 children have an afternoon tea in small groups with the headteacher to discuss their aspirations for the future.
If you are an ex-pupil, we would love to hear from you and listen to your fond memories from this very special school.
